That's a great question to ask and the cost between the two can really vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and also the particular synthetic turf product you choose.  There are many different variations of artificial turf and it comes with different backing materials, different thicknesses, and even different textures.

I highly recommend George/Contempo Stone Design team. They did an amazing job adding a retaining wall on the side and front of our home in summer of 2023. They were very professional and quality of work was flawless. Contempo’s team drove by recently and noticed the cap was cracked and broken off due to the snow removal truck hitting it. Jorge is exceptional to work with! He is professional, responds quickly and mocks up what his team will do so there are never any surprises. He put up a retaining on all sides of our yard, regraded our yard, added pavers with rocks, created a beautiful space with rocks for our trampoline and did all of our landscaping. Owner Jorge Aguirre was a superb person to work with. His design creativity, his experience, integrity and work ethic were unbelievable, from start to finish.
